Q1. What is a Cataract?
Cataract (Safed Motia) is a Clouding or opacity of the normally
transparent lens inside the eye. When Cataract develops the
lens becomes cloudy and prevents the light rays passing into
the retina.
Q2. What causes Cataract?
Most forms of Cataract develop in adult life.It can happen anytime
after the age of 40. In younger people they can result from
an injury, certain drugs, inflammation or illness such as diabetes.
Babies can be born with this condition. This is called congenital
Cataract.
Q3.
What is the treatment?
There is no medications, eye drops, exercises or glasses that
will cause cataracts to disappear. Surgery is the only way to
remove a cataract. In Cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed
from the eye.

What are our Free Eye Camps all about?
The Free Eye Camps we conduct are camps in which we, With
the help of a team of Doctors from Mumbai, performIOL operations
for the local people

I CARE is a self-development and a community service oriented
Organization. We think individuals can make a big difference
& help benefit society at large. We believe in serving people
irrespective of man-made prejudices of religion, cast, color,
gender & Nationality. Our current thrust is on trying to eradicate
curable blindness (due to Cataract) from the rural poor and
reach medical facilities for the same to people who otherwise
would not have access / would not be able to afford the same.

Very simple. All you have to do is to contact at our office
and complete some legal formalities. Thereafter, We shall completely
update you with latest events & future programmes of I Care.

Who are the members of I Care?
Our Strength is our members coming from occupations as diverse
As CAs, Business Enterpreneurs, Teachers, MBAs, IT etc. It is
these people who make our activities a possibilities and a success.
They are all volunteers, giving their time, energy and money
to things they think are important.

Where are these free eye camps conducted?
These eye camps are conducted in different districts of Maharashtra,
mostly at the rural areas where the frequency of Cataract disease
is more. Up till now we have conducted our eye camp at Nasik,
Raigad, Thane, Dhule, Jalgaon, Chandrapur, Anandwan, Kolhapur
and also in places like Surat which is outside Maharashtra.

What is the cost?
The total budget for eye camps costs approximately 3.5 to 4
lakhs for 300 cataract surgeries which includes expenses of
Medicines, Food, Equipments, publicity, Transport and other
miscelleneous expenses to make the eye camp successful.

Can I donate my eyes after my death?
Absolutely. You can do this by registering at our office. We
would be very grateful to you about this deed that you have
done not for us, but for those people who are the victims of
cataract.

What can we do for you?
We appeal to you to support us in this behaviour by contributing
Rs.500 or towards our annual fund raising. All donations received
are entitled to a Deduction u / s 80 (G) of Income Tax Act,
1951. Your contribution in cash or kind, big or small would
go a long way in lighting up the life of many elderly underprivilaged
Indians. Help them to see this beautiful world again!!
