Cataract is the major cause of partial / complete blindness in India. And yet its curing requires a smple operation. Unfortunately the facilities for such an operation are extremely limited especially in the rural parts of our country.

• 80% or more than 10 million of these blind peoples suffer from blindness due to cataract.
• Prevalence of blindness varies by geographical location & is higher among women than man.
• There are indications that blindness is more prevelant among the poor sections of the society.
