A BRIEF SUMMARY


Objective
: To carry out free IOL Cataract operations for people in and around Palghar.

Dates: Jan 10 -14, 2004

Venue: Rural Hospital of the Health Department of Sir J J Group of Hospitals, Palghar, Thane, Maharashtra

Success Rate: 100%

This Camp was held at palghar in January 2002. Palghar is a very small village situated in Maharashtra and is approximately 2,50,000 people. The local people are very poor.

The patients were kept for 4 days. On the second day the patients are operated upon by a team of qualified doctors from JJ Group of Hospitals under the Leadership of
T P Lahane, Head of the Ophthalmology department.

On all these days the patients were provided with all the meals. After the camp we had 3 follow ups. At the final check up we provided the patients with free numbered glasses.
