The
free eye camps are camps, in which we with the help of a team
of Doctors from Mumbai, perform IOL(Intra Ocular Lenses) operations
for local people. IOL's eliminate the need for thick glasses
after the cataract is removed.
This year the camp was held at Anandwan, Warora, District:
Chandrapur situated in Maharashtra and is approximately
17 hours away from Mumbai . The local Language is marathi.
The people consist mainly of tribal who are very poor.
The patients were kept for 4 days. The first day was reserved
for pre-operative preparations. On the Second day the patients
were operated upon by the team of qualified surgeons from
J.J Group of Hospitals under the leadership of T.P. Lahane,
Head of Ophthalmology Department. The third and the fourth
were for the first and second dressing and discharge. On all
these days and the patient's relatives are provided with all
meals. After the camp got over, we had three followups, each
at an interval of 15 days. At the end we provided the patients
